Tradewind Recruitment are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Assistant Catering Manager to join the catering team at a welcoming secondary school on the Wirral. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual with catering and supervisory experience who is passionate about delivering high-quality food services within an educational environment.
The successful candidate will support the Catering Manager in the day-to-day operation of the school's catering provision, ensuring excellent food quality, customer service, and compliance with food safety regulations.
Main Purpose of the Role: To support the Catering Manager in the effective management of the school's catering service, ensuring the delivery of nutritious, high-quality meals while maintaining the highest standards of food hygiene, health and safety, and customer service.
Key Requirements:
- Previous experience within a catering, hospitality, or food service environment
- Experience supervising or leading a team
- Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate (Level 3 desirable)
- Strong organisational and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Understanding of food safety and health & safety regulations
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the Catering Manager with the day-to-day running of the kitchen and dining facilities
- Assist with menu planning, food preparation, and service delivery
- Supervise catering staff and allocate duties as required
- Ensure high standards of food quality, presentation, and customer service
- Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering and stock control
- Maintain accurate records relating to food safety and hygiene
- Ensure compliance with all food safety, health and safety, and safeguarding procedures
- Assist with training and supporting catering team members
- Promote a positive dining experience for students, staff, and visitors
