Location: Burnley / Barley area (BB12) - The Woodlands Campus

Start Date: September 2026

Salary: Up to £32,000 per annum (For Qualified Teacher Status)

About the Role

We are looking for an inspiring, resilient, and adventurous Educator to join our unique Woodlands and Small Provisions campus just outside Burnley for a September 2026 start. This is a dedicated 1:1 role working with secondary-aged pupils who are currently disengaged from mainstream education, often facing Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges or complex learning needs. Rather than managing a chaotic classroom of thirty, you will focus your energy entirely on personalised 1:1 instruction, rebuilding a single student's confidence, academic progress, and self-esteem. This role is being offered on a temp-to-perm basis, giving you the perfect opportunity to ensure the setting is the right fit for you before transitioning onto a permanent school contract.

The Setting & The Outdoor Edge

The Woodlands campus is far from standard. Set across 26 acres of woodlands, fishing lakes, and outdoor spaces, we utilise nature, adventure, and hands-on experiences as the catalyst for learning. While you will be delivering core academic content to help students working toward alternative accreditations or GCSE entry, an interest or background in Outdoor Education, Forest School, or practical land-based activities is a massive plus. If you can weave a math lesson into an outdoor project or use the natural environment to help a student self-regulate, you will thrive here.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver highly personalised, creative 1:1 lessons to secondary pupils, adapting your pace and delivery to meet their specific emotional and academic needs.
  • Utilise the unique 26-acre woodland setting to integrate outdoor learning, practical life skills, and active engagement into the curriculum.
  • Implement trauma-informed positive behaviour management strategies, keeping de-escalation and emotional support at the forefront.

What We Are Looking For

  • Qualifications: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification is essential to command the top salary bracket (up to £32k).
  • Experience: A proven track record working with secondary aged students within an Alternative Provision, Pupil Referral Unit (PRU), or SEN setting (specifically supporting SEMH, ASD, or trauma).
  • Outdoor Passion: A genuine enthusiasm for outdoor education, bushcraft, sports, or experiential learning is highly desirable.
  • Mindset: Exceptional resilience, emotional intelligence, and a non-judgemental approach to challenging behaviours.
  • Compliance: An enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one) and a driving license with access to a vehicle due to the rural campus location.

What We Offer

  • Career Security: A clear temp-to-perm pathway, moving onto a permanent contract following a successful probationary period.
  • Unrivaled Environment: The chance to teach in a stunning, non-traditional environment utilising school narrowboats, fishing lakes, and extensive woodlands.
  • True Impact: The autonomy to teach without the constraints of rigid mainstream structures, making a visible, daily difference to one young person at a time.

How to Apply

If you are ready to swap the traditional staffroom for 26 acres of woodland and change a young person's life through 1:1 education, apply today. Please click 'Apply Now' to upload your CV, or contact our Lancashire Alternative Provision Recruitment Team directly for a confidential discussion.
