Assistant Site Leader Alternative Provision - Swadlincote

Are you an experienced education professional with strong organisational and leadership skills? Do you have experience leading staff and supporting the day-to-day running of a school setting? Tradewind Recruitment are working in partnership with an Alternative Provision in Swadlincote to recruit an Assistant Site Leader to work closely under the Head of School. This is a key leadership role focused on supporting education delivery, staff management, and operational organisation within the provision. This is not a caretaking or facilities role. The successful candidate will play a central part in leading education on site, supporting staff, organising timetables, and ensuring pupils are effectively inducted and supported. This position is 43 weeks per year. The additional weeks reflect the need for flexibility, including slightly earlier starts or later finishes to respond to staff absence, safeguarding matters, timetable changes, and operational priorities.
About the Role
As Assistant Site Leader, you will support the Head of School in the strategic and operational running of the provision. You will act as a visible and approachable leader on site, supporting staff and pupils to ensure the smooth day-to-day delivery of education.
- Supporting the Head of School with the daily operational leadership of the site.
- Leading on education organisation, including timetables and staffing arrangements.
- Line managing Teaching Assistants and support staff, providing guidance and oversight.
- Coordinating and overseeing new pupil induction, including transitions and parental communication.
- Responding to staff absence by reorganising timetables and deployment as required.
- Supporting safeguarding processes and escalating concerns in line with policy.
- Maintaining a calm, safe, and well-organised learning environment.
- Acting as a key point of contact for staff, pupils, and families during the school day.
Requirements
- Previous experience working in a school setting (essential).
- Experience line managing staff within an education environment.
- Strong organisational, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience in a role such as Head of Year, Pastoral Lead, Behaviour Lead, or similar is highly desirable.
- The role does not require Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
- Confidence supporting education provision and staff without being teacher trained.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- An enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
