We are seeking an Aspiring Head Teacher to lead our Alternative Provision (AP) setting in Blackpool. This is a unique opportunity for a high-calibre leader who may not hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) but possesses deep expertise in managing complex educational, behavioural, or therapeutic environments. In an AP setting, leadership is about more than curriculum; it's about creating a sanctuary for growth, resilience, and second chances. If you have a background in senior leadership, youth justice, specialist education, or social care and are ready to step into a Headship, we want to hear from you.
Your Impact in Alternative Provision
- Strategic Vision: You will define and drive the educational and pastoral strategy, ensuring our provision meets the diverse needs of every learner.
- Trauma-Informed Leadership: Lead the development of a therapeutic, inclusive culture that prioritises emotional regulation and social reintegration.
- Staff Empowerment: Mentor and lead a multidisciplinary team of teachers and support staff, fostering a culture of high expectations and mutual support.
- Stakeholder Synergy: Act as the key liaison between the school, local authorities, parents, and external agencies to ensure holistic support for our pupils.
- Safeguarding Excellence: Maintain an uncompromising commitment to safeguarding, ensuring the safety and well-being of some of the community's most vulnerable young people.
What You Bring
- Proven Leadership: Significant experience in a senior management role, ideally within an AP, PRU, or specialist behavioural setting.
- QTS Not Required: We value professional leadership experience and a "whole-child" philosophy over traditional teaching credentials.
- Exceptional Communication: The ability to command a room, de-escalate crisis situations, and build trust with hard-to-reach students and families.
- Data & Compliance Mastery: Skills in monitoring progress, managing budgets, and ensuring full compliance with educational standards and GDPR.
- Resilience: The emotional strength and professional "presence" to lead a busy, unpredictable, and highly rewarding environment.
Why Join Our Mission
Blackpool's youth deserve leaders who refuse to give up on them. We offer a workplace that values innovation, autonomy, and the courage to do things differently. You will be supported with a robust professional development package as you transition into this pivotal leadership role.
