Are you creative, practical, and passionate about supporting Art & Design education in a secondary school environment? Do you have the technical skills and organisational ability to support engaging, hands-on Art & Design lessons and help students bring their creative ideas to life?

Tradewind Recruitment is partnering with a welcoming and inclusive secondary school in Brent seeking to appoint a dedicated Art & Design Technician from September 2026. This full-time role is ideal for individuals with a background in art, design, textiles, or creative industries who are looking to support teaching and learning within education.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a supportive school community, playing a vital role in preparing resources, maintaining workshop and studio spaces, and supporting the delivery of a high-quality creative curriculum.

The Role

  • Preparing materials, tools, and equipment for Art, Design, and creative technology lessons
  • Supporting teachers in delivering practical, hands-on classroom activities
  • Maintaining and organising art rooms, studios, and workshop spaces
  • Ensuring all equipment, tools, and materials are safe, clean, and ready for use
  • Assisting students with materials, processes, and techniques where appropriate
  • Supporting the creation, display, and installation of student artwork around the school
  • Managing stock levels, ordering supplies, and maintaining departmental resources
  • Ensuring health and safety procedures are followed within workshops and studios
  • Supporting exhibitions, displays, and school events showcasing student work
  • Providing general technical and organisational support to the Art & Design department

The Ideal Candidate

  • Experience in an art, design, or creative environment (school experience desirable but not essential)
  • Strong practical skills in art, design, textiles, or related creative disciplines
  • Good knowledge of materials, tools, and safe working practices
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • The ability to support and engage positively with young people
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • A proactive and flexible approach to supporting a busy creative department
  • A genuine passion for art, design, and creative education
