About the Role
Are you passionate about supporting students who thrive outside of a mainstream setting? Our Alternative Provision (AP) in Burnley is seeking dedicated individuals to join our team this May. Whether you are a Qualified Teaching Assistant or an Unqualified Mentor with significant experience in youth work, sports coaching, or social care, we want to hear from you. You will work with students (Key Stage 3 fresh start for these learners), helping them engage with education through 1:1 support and small-group interventions.
Key Responsibilities
- Engagement: Build strong, trusting relationships with students who have disengaged from mainstream education.
- Behavior Support: Use de-escalation techniques (such as Team Teach) to maintain a safe and positive learning environment.
- Academic Support: Assist in delivering a modified curriculum, ensuring every student has the tools to achieve their potential.
- Progression: Work closely with the Senior Leadership Team to monitor student progress and support their transition back to mainstream or into post-16 education.
