In this targeted role, you will work closely with a Key Stage 3 / Key Stage 4 pupil diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), helping them access the curriculum, regulate sensory and emotional needs, and build lasting academic confidence.

Position Overview:

  • Contract: Full-time, long-term placement for the 2026/27 academic year with permanent contract routes

Key Responsibilities:

  • Personalised 1:1 Support: Provide consistent, structured learning support to a designated secondary student across academic subjects.

  • Task Differentiation & Focus: Break down complex instructions into manageable steps, using visual timetables, chunked tasks, and focus strategies to support ADHD attention spans.

  • Sensory & Emotional Regulation: Identify early signs of sensory overload or anxiety, implementing planned movement breaks, low-arousal techniques, and quiet-space strategies.

  • Promoting Social Independence: Support positive peer interactions during group work and unstructured break times while encouraging independent problem-solving skills.

  • EHCP Milestone Tracking: Work in partnership with subject teachers, the SENCO, and outside specialists to monitor targets and document daily progress.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • Demonstrated experience supporting secondary-aged young people with Autism (ASC), ADHD, or related neurodivergent profiles.

  • Calm, reassuring, and consistent approach with a genuine understanding of neurodiverse learning styles.

  • Background in school SEND support, healthcare/care, youth work, or relevant psychology/education degrees.
