The Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering both subjects to post-16 learners, ensuring students receive consistent, high-quality teaching throughout the assignment.Responsibilities will include:Teaching Geology and Applied Science to college studentsPlanning and delivering engaging theoretical and practical lessonsSupporting students with scientific knowledge, investigation and analysisAssessing learning and providing constructive feedbackMaintaining continuity with existing schemes of workSupporting students with coursework and assessment preparation where requiredManaging classroom behaviour and maintaining a positive learning environmentWorking collaboratively with teaching colleagues and curriculum leadersPlease note: The successful candidate must be able to teach both Geology and Applied Science.
The Ideal Candidate
We are particularly interested in candidates who:Hold QTS, QTLS, PGCE or an appropriate recognised teaching qualificationHave strong subject knowledge in both Geology and Applied ScienceHave relevant teaching or lecturing experienceAre confident delivering lessons to post-16 studentsCan adapt quickly to an established curriculumHave strong classroom management and communication skillsCan provide effective assessment and feedbackAre available to start immediately and commit until October half-termExperience teaching in a sixth form college or further education setting would be advantageous.Candidates with a background in Earth Sciences, Geology or related scientific disciplines are encouraged to apply, provided they have the necessary teaching experience and can confidently deliver both subjects.
