The Role
- Leading whole-class learning and covering lessons when required
- Delivering planned lessons, learning activities and interventions
- Providing targeted one-to-one and small-group support
- Supporting pupils with a range of learning, behavioural and additional needs
- Adapting learning activities and resources to meet individual needs
- Supporting teachers with planning, preparation and assessment
- Monitoring pupil engagement and progress and providing feedback to teaching staff
- Promoting positive behaviour and maintaining a calm and purposeful learning environment
- Building positive, professional relationships with pupils
- Encouraging confidence, independence and resilience
- Supporting pupils to overcome barriers to learning
- Working closely with teachers, SENCOs, pastoral staff and other professionals
- Supporting and sharing good practice with Teaching Assistants and other support staff
- Contributing to the wider life and development of the school
The Ideal Candidate
- Confident leading whole-class learning and small-group activities
- Experienced in supporting children and young people within an educational setting
- Able to manage behaviour effectively and calmly
- Confident adapting learning to meet different abilities and needs
- A strong communicator with excellent interpersonal skills
- Organised, proactive and able to work independently
- Passionate about supporting pupils to achieve their potential
- Able to build positive relationships with pupils and colleagues
- Committed to inclusive education and safeguarding
- Comfortable working collaboratively as part of a wider school team
- Ideally, you will hold HLTA status or an appropriate Level 4 qualification, although we would also welcome applications from experienced Teaching Assistants who are ready to take the next step in their career.
- Experience supporting pupils with SEND, SEMH, behavioural or additional learning needs would be particularly beneficial.
