Are You Passionate About Supporting Young People? Tradewind Recruitment are currently looking for a Secondary School Support Worker to join a welcoming secondary school in the Kettering area. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys working with young people and wants to make a positive difference to their education, confidence and emotional wellbeing. We are particularly interested in hearing from individuals with experience in support work, mental health, SEN/SEND, behaviour support, youth work or care, who are looking to transfer their skills into a school environment. You don't necessarily need previous school experience, but you will need to be patient, resilient and confident supporting young people with a range of needs.
The Role
- Providing 1:1 and small-group support to secondary-aged students
- Supporting young people with additional learning, social and emotional needs
- Helping students overcome barriers to learning
- Supporting students who may struggle with behaviour, confidence or emotional regulation
- Building positive and trusting relationships with young people
- Encouraging independence, resilience and engagement with education
- Using positive behaviour management and de-escalation strategies
- Supporting students within lessons and during targeted interventions
- Working closely with teachers, SEN staff and pastoral teams
- Helping to create a safe, supportive and inclusive school environment

The ideal candidate will:
- Have experience supporting children, young people or vulnerable individuals
- Have a good understanding of emotional wellbeing and additional support needs
- Be calm, patient and resilient when dealing with challenging situations
- Be confident building relationships and maintaining clear boundaries
- Have strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Be reliable, enthusiastic and committed to supporting young people
- Be available for full-time work in Kettering
