Designated Safeguarding Lead - Haringey Secondary School

Are you an experienced safeguarding professional looking for an exciting opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young people? A successful and well-regarded secondary school in Haringey is looking to appoint a committed and experienced Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) to join their team as soon as possible. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified teacher with a strong background in safeguarding to take on a key leadership role within a supportive and successful school community.
The Role
As Designated Safeguarding Lead, you will play a central role in ensuring the safety, wellbeing and protection of students, working closely with staff, families and external agencies.
You will be responsible for:
- Leading and managing the school's safeguarding provision
- Acting as the main point of contact for safeguarding concerns
- Supporting staff to identify and respond appropriately to safeguarding issues
- Working closely with external agencies and professionals where required
- Maintaining accurate and confidential safeguarding records
- Providing safeguarding advice, guidance and training to staff
- Promoting a strong culture of safeguarding across the school
- Ensuring safeguarding policies and procedures are effectively implemented
About You
The successful candidate will:
- Hold a recognised teaching qualification (QTS or equivalent)
- Have significant experience working within a secondary school
- Have a strong understanding of safeguarding procedures and legislation
- Have previous experience dealing with safeguarding concerns
- Ideally have previous experience working as a DSL or Deputy DSL
- Have excellent communication and organisational skills
- Be confident working with students, staff, parents and external agencies
- Have a calm, professional and sensitive approach when dealing with complex situations
- Be committed to promoting the safety and wellbeing of every student
