Graduated in Education Studies and looking to kick-start your career in education? Tradewind Recruitment is working with a range of welcoming primary schools and trusts across Bolton and the surrounding areas, offering fantastic opportunities for education-based graduates to gain valuable, hands-on experience in the classroom.

We consider a variety of roles for teaching assistants that support children in mainstream schools and special educational needs settings. Whether you're considering a future career in teaching, looking to build your experience working with children, or passionate about supporting pupils with additional needs, we have opportunities to suit you.

Areas we cover include: Blackrod, Horwich, Egerton, Westhoughton, Farnworth, Little Lever, Kearsley and the wider Bolton area. We also cover other neighbourhood boroughs of Bury and Salford.

What opportunities are available?

  • 1:1 Teaching Assistant roles - providing tailored support to individual pupils.
  • General Classroom Support - working alongside teachers to support learning and pupil development.
  • SEND Support - working with pupils with special educational needs and disabilities, including within specialist SEN provisions.
  • SEMH & Behaviour Support - supporting pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs and helping them to engage positively with learning.

Most positions are full-time, Monday to Friday, approximately 8:30am to 3:30pm, making them ideal for graduates looking to gain consistent, practical experience in an educational setting. Part-time roles are also available, including mornings only (08:30-12:30).

Why apply?

These opportunities are ideal for graduates with degrees in Education Studies, Childhood Studies, Psychology or other education-related subjects.

  • Previous experience working with children is highly desirable, particularly experience supporting pupils with SEND, SEMH or behavioural needs.
  • We are keen to speak to motivated graduates who are enthusiastic about making a difference in children's lives.

Looking to become a teacher? These roles could be the perfect stepping stone.

Working as a Teaching Assistant allows you to:

  • Gain valuable classroom experience to strengthen future PGCE applications.
  • Develop practical behaviour management and teaching support skills.
  • Build relationships with experienced teachers and school leadership teams.
  • Explore different educational settings and discover where your interests lie.
  • Access potential progression opportunities, with many of the trusts we work with offering their own SCITT (School-Centred Initial Teacher Training) programmes, providing a potential route into teacher training and career progression.

Who are we looking for?

  • Educated to degree level in Education Studies or a related subject (Must be a UK undergraduate degree).
  • Passionate about supporting children's learning, development and wellbeing.
  • Confident, proactive and enthusiastic about working in primary schools.
  • Interested in gaining experience in mainstream education, SEND or SEMH settings.
  • Ideally experienced in working with children, although a genuine passion for education is essential.
