A classroom-based role for an education professional who can take responsibility for learning and behaviour. A secondary school in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire is seeking an experienced Cover Supervisor to provide consistent classroom supervision when teaching staff are unavailable.

What you will do

• Classroom supervision
• Deliver pre-prepared work and instructions provided by teaching staff.
• Ensure pupils understand the tasks they have been set.
• Monitor progress and engagement throughout lessons.
• Maintain an orderly and purposeful classroom environment.
• Deal confidently with low-level behaviour and follow school procedures where further intervention is required.
• Supporting learning
• Encourage pupils to complete work to the expected standard.
• Answer appropriate questions and provide clarification where possible.
• Report significant issues, behaviour concerns or pupil progress to relevant staff.
• Ensure classrooms are left organised and ready for the next lesson.

The Ideal Candidate

• Previous experience working with secondary-aged pupils.
• Strong classroom management skills.
• A calm, consistent and professional approach.
• The confidence to work independently across different subjects.
• Good communication skills and the ability to follow school procedures.
• An understanding of safeguarding responsibilities within education.
• Teaching qualifications are not essential where you can demonstrate relevant school-based experience, although, graduates, aspiring teachers and experienced education professionals are encouraged to apply.
