About the Role
Tradewind Recruitment is seeking a qualified and experienced Sociology Teacher to work in secondary schools across Lewisham, South East London.
We have opportunities for enthusiastic and dedicated teachers seeking flexible daily supply work, as well as those interested in longer-term teaching placements.
The successful candidate will have strong subject knowledge, effective classroom management skills and the ability to deliver engaging Sociology lessons that support students' academic progress.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging Sociology lessons in line with the school's curriculum and requirements.
- Create a positive, inclusive and supportive learning environment.
- Assess and monitor student progress, providing constructive feedback where required.
- Maintain effective classroom management and promote positive behaviour.
- Adapt teaching approaches to meet the needs of students with varying abilities and learning requirements.
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff and school leadership teams.
- Follow school policies, including safeguarding and child protection procedures.
Essential Requirements
To be considered for this position, applicants must have:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
- A relevant university degree, ideally in Sociology or a closely related subject.
- Previous teaching experience within a secondary school setting.
- Strong subject knowledge and the ability to teach Sociology effectively.
- Excellent communication, organisational and classroom management skills.
- A commitment to safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusion.

Pay and Career Progression
Daily Supply Teaching: £150-£170 per day
