Are you a Science Teacher who is passionate about making a genuine difference to the lives of young people with Special Educational Needs? Tradewind Recruitment are currently working with a specialist SEN school in Milton Keynes who are looking for a dedicated Science Teacher to join their team from September 2026. This is a fantastic opportunity for a teacher who enjoys adapting their teaching to individual needs and wants to work in a setting where relationships, engagement and progress are at the heart of the school.
The Role
You will be teaching Science to secondary-aged pupils with a range of additional needs. The school supports pupils across both SEN and SEMH provisions, meaning lessons need to be engaging, accessible and carefully adapted to meet a variety of learning needs. Class sizes are typically smaller than those found in mainstream settings, with dedicated Teaching Assistant support available. You will work closely with the wider pastoral and SEN teams to create a calm, structured and supportive learning environment.
The successful teacher will be confident adapting the curriculum and using practical, creative approaches to engage pupils who may have previously struggled within a mainstream environment.
We are looking for:
- QTS or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification
- Science teaching experience
- Experience working with SEN/SEMH pupils is desirable but not essential
- Strong classroom and behaviour management skills
- The ability to differentiate and adapt lessons effectively
- A patient, nurturing and consistent approach
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- A genuine commitment to helping pupils overcome barriers to learning
Mainstream Science Teachers with an interest in moving into SEN are strongly encouraged to apply.
