Tradewind Recruitment is currently recruiting for an experienced School Administrator to join a welcoming and well-established Secondary School in Salford, with the successful candidate required to start ASAP. This is an excellent opportunity for an organised, reliable and experienced school administrator who is confident working within a busy secondary school environment and understands the importance of providing an efficient and professional administrative service to staff, pupils, parents and visitors.

Please note: School experience is essential. Only applicants who have previous experience working within a school or education setting will be considered for this position. The successful candidate must already have hands-on experience using school management information systems (MIS), including SIMS, Bromcom and Arbor. Experience with these systems is a key requirement of the role, and candidates without previous school-based experience and familiarity with school systems will not be considered.

The Role

  • Providing professional and welcoming support to pupils, parents, staff and visitors.
  • Managing general administrative duties across the school office.
  • Maintaining accurate pupil and school records.
  • Using SIMS, Bromcom and Arbor to update and retrieve school information.
  • Supporting with attendance administration and following up on attendance-related matters.
  • Assisting with pupil admissions, transfers and leavers.
  • Processing correspondence, letters, emails and other school communications.
  • Answering telephone calls and dealing with enquiries in a professional manner.
  • Liaising with parents and carers regarding general school-related queries.
  • Supporting teaching and support staff with administrative requests.
  • Maintaining accurate databases, filing systems and confidential records.
  • Assisting with the organisation of meetings, appointments and school events.
  • Producing documents, reports and other administrative materials when required.
  • Working in accordance with school policies and procedures, particularly those relating to confidentiality and safeguarding.
  • Providing general administrative support wherever required to ensure the smooth running of the school.

About You

  • Experienced in working within a school or education environment.
  • Confident using SIMS, Bromcom and Arbor.
  • Highly organised, methodical and able to manage competing priorities.
  • Confident communicating with pupils, parents, colleagues and external professionals.
  • Professional, approachable and able to represent the school positively.
  • Comfortable working in a busy and sometimes fast-paced school office.
  • Reliable and able to work effectively as part of a wider administrative team.
  • Familiar with the importance of confidentiality when handling sensitive pupil and staff information.
  • Able to use Microsoft Office and other standard administrative software confidently.
  • Flexible and willing to support the wider school team when required.
  • Previous school-based administrative experience is an essential requirement. Candidates coming solely from general office, business administration, retail, hospitality or other non-educational backgrounds will not be considered for this vacancy.
