Tradewind Recruitment is working with a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Houghton Regis that is looking for a dedicated and resilient Teaching Assistant to support pupils who need a different approach to education.
This is an opportunity to work with children and young people who may have experienced challenges in mainstream education, including those with SEND, social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs, and challenging behaviour.
You'll play an important role in helping pupils re-engage with learning, develop confidence and build positive relationships in a structured and supportive environment.
What will you be doing?
- Supporting pupils in the classroom on a one-to-one basis and in small groups
- Helping pupils manage their emotions, behaviour and engagement with learning
- Building positive relationships and acting as a consistent, trusted adult
- Working alongside teachers to deliver tailored learning activities
- Using positive behaviour management strategies to encourage progress
- Helping create a safe, calm and inclusive learning environment
Who are we looking for?
- Someone with experience supporting children or young people with additional needs or challenging behaviour
- Experience in a PRU, alternative provision, SEMH setting or similar environment would be highly beneficial
- A patient, resilient and adaptable approach
- Confidence managing difficult situations calmly and professionally
- Someone who can build rapport while maintaining clear boundaries
- A genuine passion for helping young people overcome barriers to learning
