EAL Teaching Assistant Wanted - Milton Keynes

Tradewind Recruitment are working with a welcoming and inclusive secondary school in Milton Keynes that is seeking a dedicated EAL (English as an Additional Language) Teaching Assistant to join their support team.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about helping students develop their English language skills and achieve success in the classroom.

As an EAL Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with students whose first language is not English, providing tailored support to help them access the curriculum, build confidence, and improve their communication skills.

The Role

  • Supporting EAL students across a range of subjects and year groups.
  • Delivering small group and one-to-one interventions focused on English language development.
  • Assisting teachers in adapting learning materials to meet individual needs.
  • Encouraging student engagement, confidence, and academic progress.
  • Monitoring and recording student progress and providing feedback to teaching staff.
  • Promoting an inclusive and supportive learning environment.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

  • Experience working with children or young people in an educational setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A patient, supportive, and adaptable approach.
  • An understanding of the challenges faced by EAL learners.
  • Additional language skills would be advantageous but are not essential.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and supporting student wellbeing.
