Tradewind Recruitment is building its team of education professionals ahead of the new academic year, with opportunities available across Bristol and the surrounding areas.

As a Senior Science Technician, you will support the day-to-day running of a secondary school science department. You will work closely with teaching staff to prepare practical lessons, organise equipment and resources, maintain laboratories and ensure practical activities are delivered safely and effectively. The role would suit an experienced Science Technician who is organised, proactive and confident working independently. You may support practical lessons across Biology, Chemistry and Physics, preparing equipment and materials in advance and ensuring teachers have the resources they need. You will also be expected to follow relevant health and safety procedures, including COSHH requirements.

Your Responsibilities

  • Preparing equipment and resources for practical science lessons.
  • Supporting practical work across Biology, Chemistry and Physics.
  • Preparing chemicals, specimens, apparatus and other materials.
  • Working with teachers to prepare for upcoming practical lessons.
  • Supporting practical demonstrations and experiments.
  • Maintaining laboratories, preparation areas and equipment.
  • Monitoring stock and ensuring resources are available.
  • Ensuring equipment and chemicals are stored safely.
  • Following health & safety, COSHH and school procedures.
  • Identifying and reporting damaged or unsafe equipment.
  • Maintaining a clean, organised and safe working environment.
  • Supporting the wider science department.
