This role focuses on engaging Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 students who have become disengaged from mainstream education or require specialised Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) support. You will use art, design, and practical creativity as a therapeutic and educational tool to help students build self-esteem, express themselves, and achieve meaningful qualifications.

- Adapt the curriculum to suit learners with diverse social, emotional, and behavioural difficulties (SEBD).
- Foster a safe, structured, and inspiring studio environment that encourages positive risk-taking and self-expression.
- Track student progress, manage behaviour effectively using positive behaviour support strategies, and build strong rapport with vulnerable youths.
- Collaborate closely with the AP specialist support team, SENCOs, and Tradewind consultants to ensure holistic student development.
Candidate Requirements
- Qualifications: Hold a relevant degree in Fine Art, Art & Design, or a related subject, alongside Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS) status, or strong proven experience as an Unqualified Teacher / Vocational Instructor.
- Experience: Previous experience working within an Alternative Provision, SEN school, or challenging classroom environments is highly desirable.
- Skills: Exceptional behaviour management skills, emotional resilience, patience, and a natural ability to connect with hard-to-reach young people.
- Compliance: Must hold or be willing to apply for an enhanced DBS check registered on the Update Service.
