Tradewind Recruitment are currently looking for an experienced and resilient SEND Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support to a child with complex needs at a primary school in Stockport.
This is a long-term, full-time position and would suit a dedicated Teaching Assistant who has strong SEND experience and is confident supporting children who may present with challenging or complex behaviours.
The Role
- Providing dedicated 1:1 support to a child with complex needs.
- Supporting the child's educational, social and emotional development.
- Working closely with the class teacher, SENCO and wider school team.
- Helping the child access learning and participate positively in school life.
- Supporting with behaviour regulation and maintaining a calm, structured environment.
- Building a strong and trusting relationship with the child.
- Using appropriate strategies to support the child's individual needs and promote positive behaviour.
- Maintaining consistency and providing encouragement throughout the school day.
The Ideal Candidate
- Previous experience working with children with SEND is essential.
- Team Teach training is essential.
- Experience supporting children with complex needs and/or challenging behaviour is highly desirable.
- Must be resilient, patient and committed to the role.
- Able to remain calm and consistent when faced with challenging situations.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to develop a positive rapport and trusting relationship with the child.
- Confident working collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs and other professionals.
- Reliable, proactive and committed to supporting the child's long-term development.
- A relevant Teaching Assistant qualification is desirable.
