About the role

This role sits at the centre of Tradeweb’s surveillance operating model, bridging day‑to‑day surveillance operations with control oversight and continuous improvement. While maintaining responsibility for alert review and case management, the position places strong emphasis on quality assurance, optimisation of the alert lifecycle, and ensuring effective surveillance coverage across new and evolving business activities. Working closely with the Global Head of Surveillance and stakeholders across Compliance, Risk, Technology, and the business, the successful candidate will play a key role in strengthening control effectiveness, enhancing data‑driven decision‑making, and supporting the scalability of the surveillance framework.

This is a hybrid VP role combining operational oversight, governance, and advisory responsibilities, distinct from purely operational roles and from dedicated scenario design, analytics and AI‑focused positions. This role offers a strong opportunity for a highly capable individual to influence and drive the evolution of Tradeweb’s surveillance programme. Working in partnership with senior stakeholders, you will help establish the standards, tools, and strategic direction that ensure Tradeweb continues to meet regulatory expectations while supporting the expansion of its global platform.

Key responsibilities

  • Surveillance & Alert Disposition: Lead the review and analysis of daily surveillance alerts, ensuring timely escalation and robust case management. Act as an escalation point for complex or sensitive alerts and investigations. Ensure consistent, high‑quality documentation and rationale for alert closures and escalations.
  • Quality Assurance & Control Oversight: Own and enhance the surveillance quality assurance framework to ensure consistency, accuracy, and adherence to procedures. Set standards for QA reviews across the team and ensure consistency of outputs. Perform and oversee QA reviews of closed alerts, identifying trends, gaps, and areas for improvement. Establish feedback loops into alert calibration, procedures, and training to improve overall control effectiveness.
  • Business Integration & Surveillance Coverage: Lead the integration of new business initiatives, products, and workflows into the surveillance framework. Ensure appropriate mapping between risks, controls, and surveillance coverage for new and evolving activities. Partner with business, technology, and compliance stakeholders to maintain comprehensive and forward‑looking monitoring.
  • Regulatory Reporting & Engagement: Oversee the preparation and submission of market abuse notifications to relevant regulatory authorities. Engage with regulators, including responses to information requests and supervisory queries. Ensure regulatory deliverables are accurate, complete, and aligned with expectations.
  • Management Information & Data Insights: Own the production and enhancement of management information (MI) for internal governance, senior management, and board‑level reporting. Define and monitor key surveillance metrics (e.g. alert volumes, false positives, ageing, QA outcomes). Leverage data and dashboards to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Continuous Improvement & Optimisation: Drive enhancements to the surveillance alert lifecycle, improving efficiency, effectiveness, and scalability. Provide structured feedback into alert design, calibration, and system enhancements. Escalate and address issues relating to surveillance effectiveness, ensuring timely remediation and ongoing enhancement.
