Job Summary
We are looking for a Test and Support Analyst to join our small, welcoming team at Red Bear and play a crucial role in ensuring the quality of our software solutions while also providing live support to production systems. The ideal candidate will be a tenacious problem-solver with a keen eye for detail that can work using their own initiative when needed. This role requires a knowledge of SQL and Azure Cosmos DB, and familiarity with UK energy industry, including gas and electricity market processes and data flows would be beneficial.
Key Responsibilities
- Understand and interpret business, functional, and technical requirements and define test conditions.
- Devising and executing functional test scenarios across a wide range of systems including UI, API, back-end databases, and 3rd party systems; including but not limited to data preparation, test design, test execution, and evidence recording.
- Have input into how solutions are developed and delivered using knowledge and expertise to help deliver the best possible outcome for the customer.
- Raising bugs in a timely manner with sufficient detail to be fixed/reproduced.
- Manage risks associated with the testing and take preventative action when any risks become unacceptable.
- Understanding industry processes used by the UK energy suppliers.
- Supporting end-users by managing tickets, analysing issues, replicating problems, and identifying root causes both in production and UAT.
- Carry out exploratory testing and analyse logs and system behaviour to identify root causes of system issues identified.
- Work with cross-functional teams, including developers, business analysts, and operations teams, to ensure smooth delivery of software solutions.
Skills and Qualifications Required
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a professional testing environment.
- Strong knowledge of software testing methodologies, tools, and processes.
- Knowledge of both front-end and back-end testing.
- Proficiency in SQL for querying and data validation.
- Experience with Azure Cosmos DB, including querying JSON data.
- Hands‑on experience with Postman or similar tools for API testing.
Advantageous
- ISTQB Software Testing Foundation qualification.
- Familiarity with .NET Core/Standard or JavaScript‑based front-end frameworks.
- Experience working in a microservices environment.
- Experience with automation testing.
