Responsibilities
- Fabricate, assemble, and weld structural steel, architectural metalwork (stairs, balustrades, handrails), or plate work according to technical engineering drawings.
- Cut, shape, drill, and prep metal sections using workshop machinery such as guillotines, bandsaws, grinders, and mag-drills.
- Measure and check fabrications against drawings to ensure strict quality control, tight tolerances, and accurate alignment.
- Carry out structural or cosmetic welding to high standards, executing necessary weld testing and cleaning finishes.
- Maintain a clean, hazard-free workshop or site environment, ensure proper ventilation and extraction are used, and strictly adhere to all health and safety guidelines, RAMS, and protective equipment regulations.
Requirements
- Proven experience working as a Welder, Fabricator, or Welder-Fabricator in a workshop or construction site environment.
- CSCS Card
Health, Safety & Qualifications
- A full and thorough understanding of engineering health and safety regulations, including safe handling of compressed gases, hot works permits, flash/arc protection, fume extraction, and proper use of RPE/PPE.
- Qualifications (Desirable): Valid coding certificates (BS EN ISO 9606 or ASME IX) and an NVQ Level 2/3 in Fabrication and Welding.
- Possession of your own basic fabrication hand tools and welding mask/PPE.
