The Opportunity

Join a busy and reputable Bereavement Team based in Hertford, with flexible hybrid working arrangements. This role offers exposure to high-quality work while maintaining a healthy work-life balance within a firm recognised for its strong culture and employee engagement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a varied caseload across:
    • Drafting Wills, LPAs and Powers of Attorney (simple to complex matters)
    • Probate and estate administration, including:
      • High-net-worth estates
      • Taxable estates and preparation of IHT400s and associated schedules
      • Identifying and claiming inheritance tax reliefs
      • Administration of intestate estates
    • Trust matters, including:
      • Creation and administration of Life Interest and Discretionary Trusts
      • Understanding of trust taxation on creation and ongoing administration
      • Advising on appropriate trust structures within estate planning
      • Knowledge of trust wind-up/collapse mechanisms
      • Some exposure to Court of Protection and Deputyship matters (desirable but not a core focus)
    • Participation in business development and networking activities

About You

  • Qualified Solicitor or CILEX/FILEX with 3+ years’ PQE in Private Client work
  • Strong UK practice experience in Wills, Trusts & Probate
  • Proven experience handling complex probate and HNW estate matters
  • Solid understanding of trust law and tax implications
  • STEP qualification or working towards STEP (desirable)
  • Excellent client care skills with a commitment to delivering outstanding service
  • A proactive, collaborative approach with strong attention to detail
  • Interest in business development and building client relationships
