Our client is a well-established integrator specialising in smart building technology and security systems since 1986. They are seeking a Service Engineer to join their London-based team, delivering reactive and planned maintenance on security and network infrastructure. Position Overview
As a Service Engineer, you'll play a key role in maintaining and enhancing our client's security and network systems for their clients across London. You'll diagnose and resolve faults on complex electronic security systems and IT infrastructure, working both reactively and proactively. Your work directly impacts client satisfaction and system reliability, whilst contributing to the company's reputation for technical excellence and customer service in the built environment sector.
Responsibilities
- Respond promptly to reactive service calls, diagnosing and resolving faults on security systems and network infrastructure
- Perform planned maintenance on electronic security systems, ensuring optimal performance and system uptime
- Conduct fault-finding using IP-based systems, network diagnostics and manufacturer remote diagnostics portals
- Liaise with client stakeholders and third-party vendors to coordinate support and resolve technical issues
- Maintain accurate service documentation and records for all maintenance and repair activities
- Collaborate with internal technical support teams to escalate complex issues and share knowledge
- Provide recommendations for system upgrades and improvements based on client requirements
- Ensure all work complies with relevant health and safety regulations and industry standards
- Participate in an on-call rota for out-of-hours support and emergency response
Requirements
Essential qualifications and experience:
- Current certification in security systems (NSI or SSAIB) or networking (CompTIA Network+, Cisco CCNA or equivalent)
- Full UK driving licence
- Minimum five GCSEs (A*-C) including Maths or English
- Three A levels (A*-C) or equivalent qualification
- Proven experience servicing electronic security systems
- Practical experience with IT and network infrastructure maintenance
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills
- Proficiency with IP-based systems and network diagnostics tools
- Experience using manufacturer remote diagnostics portals
Desirable skills
- Experience working in smart building environments or with Building Management Systems (BMS)
- Knowledge of ITIL or similar service management frameworks
- Additional vendor certifications or technical qualifications
