My client provides bespoke lighting and engineering solutions for manufacture. They are looking for a Product Design Engineer to join their team in the North London area on a permanent basis.

The Product Design Engineer will ideally have the following attributes:

  • HNC / HND / BTEC / NVQ / Degree qualified in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering / Mechanical/Electrical Design / Industrial Design / Engineering Design or similar
  • 4 or more years’ industry experience ideally working in a similar industrial design / development role within a manufacturing environment
  • Proficient with using 3D CAD software ideally Inventor or AutoCAD software for design
  • Knowledge and experience with lighting solutions is beneficial but not necessary
  • Able to manage projects and work to deadlines and budgets
  • Experienced designing products from concept to production
  • Able to maintain technical documentation and BOM entry
  • Knowledge of different materials such as sheet metal fabrication
  • Innovative and passionate about design
  • Be technically minded with a head for problem solving
  • Able to work well individually as well as part of a team

The Product Design Engineer role will involve:

  • Being responsible for the design and development of various products and structures
  • Using Inventor and AutoCAD software for design on a day-to-day basis
  • Developing ideas from concept to production
  • Creating models/prototypes
  • Liaising with clients and developing solutions
  • Collaborating with different departments to ensure the smooth delivery of projects
  • Maintaining technical drawings and documentation
  • Providing technical guidance and support
  • Supporting product testing, verification & validation
