What the Role Involves

  • Providing dedicated 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with complex SEMH needs throughout the school day
  • Implementing strategies outlined in pupils' Education, Health and Care Plans under SENDCO and therapeutic team guidance
  • Supporting pupils through de-escalation, emotional regulation, and reintegration following difficult periods
  • Maintaining accurate, sensitive records of pupil wellbeing, behaviour, and progress to inform wider MDT planning
  • Building consistent, safe, and trusted relationships with pupils and families that underpin long-term positive development

The ideal SEMH Support Assistant will hold a 2:1 or 1st Class degree from a top 30 UK university. Previous experience supporting young people with SEMH or complex needs in a UK school or educational setting is highly valued. The school is seeking a calm, resilient, and deeply compassionate SEMH Support Assistant with strong interpersonal skills and a genuine vocation for working with some of education's most vulnerable young people.
