The opportunity
This is a senior hire within an established corporate tax team. You’ll take ownership of a quality portfolio, support senior colleagues on advisory-led work, and contribute to workflow planning and team development.
Location and working arrangements
Glasgow-based role with hybrid working. Flexibility around office attendance (to be discussed at shortlist stage).
What you’ll be doing
- Portfolio ownership and client relationships: Manage a portfolio of key corporate clients, overseeing end-to-end corporate tax compliance delivery. Build trusted relationships through regular contact, including attending client meetings. Identify opportunities to add value and introduce wider services where appropriate.
- Advisory work and technical delivery: Spend a significant portion of your time supporting senior stakeholders to deliver corporate tax advisory work. Provide practical guidance on complex areas of UK tax legislation, translating technical points into clear client advice. Undertake and oversee technical research, producing well‑reasoned, commercially focused recommendations.
- Team leadership and workflow planning: Support the management of the corporate tax team, including appraisals and performance conversations, coaching and technical review of assignments, improving consistency, quality, and delivery across the team. Contribute to workflow planning within your section and help drive best practice.
- Commercial contribution: Play an active role in delivering revenue and profitability targets. Proactively bring opportunities and new work into the wider group through strong client service.
What we’re looking for
- CTA / ACA / ACCA / CA (or equivalent) qualified.
- 5–8+ years’ UK practice experience in Corporate Tax (or Mixed Tax with a strong corporate bias).
- Experience operating at Manager / Senior Manager level (or ready to step into Senior Manager / Assistant Director scope).
- Strong working knowledge of UK corporate tax compliance (including review and sign‑off), advisory support (planning, structuring, technical problem‑solving), technical research and interpretation of legislation.
- Evidence of leadership: reviewing work, coaching juniors, and supporting team performance.
- Confident client‑facing skills, with the ability to manage expectations and build long‑term relationships.
- Exposure to multiple sectors is advantageous due to the varied client base.
Salary and benefits
Salary: £65,000–£85,000 basic (dependent on experience and level) + performance‑related bonus.
