We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Accounts Assistant for a SME to support their finance team with invoicing, purchase ledger, credit control, and supplier account management. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring timely invoicing and payments, and responding to internal and external queries in a professional manner.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Raise and process chargeable callouts and service-related invoices using internal systems
- Produce daily invoices against Works Order Numbers and manage rejected invoices, ensuring timely resubmission
- Raise weekly planned maintenance invoices and ensure accurate billing
- Match, code, and process purchase invoices against purchase orders, ensuring accuracy and timely posting
- Investigate and resolve supplier account queries, liaising with suppliers to ensure payments meet agreed terms
- Prepare supplier payments, reconcile supplier statements, and maintain accurate purchase ledger records
- Support credit control by chasing outstanding debts, resolving customer queries, and monitoring aged creditor reports
- Manage accounts email inbox, process customer purchase orders, maintain records, and complete general administrative duties
Person Specification:
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Good organisational and time management skills
- Confident communicator, both written and verbal
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel)
- Professional and customer-focused approach
Experience:
- Experience using accounting or finance systems (e.g., Verisae or similar)
- Knowledge of purchase ledger, sales ledger, and credit control processes
- Previous experience in an accounts, finance, or bookkeeping role preferred
- Experience handling invoicing, supplier accounts, or credit control is an advantage
Hours of Work: Monday – Friday (9am – 5.30pm)
Work Location: In person
