DR Newitt is working with a leading food manufacturing business supplying major UK retailers to recruit a Process Technologist for one of their fast‑paced production facilities in Nottingham. This is an excellent opportunity to join a busy and highly collaborative Process team supporting a diverse portfolio of bakery, pizza and snacking products.
The business is looking for a Process Technologist who can support product trials, process development and successful product launches while working closely with production, technical and commercial teams across site. The role offers excellent exposure across multiple product categories and manufacturing processes, making it an ideal opportunity for someone looking to develop into a well‑rounded food manufacturing professional within a large‑scale FMCG environment.
Reporting into the Process Manager, you will work closely with fellow Process and Specification Technologists to manage product handovers, factory trials and process improvements while ensuring products are launched successfully and consistently.
Key Responsibilities- Support product trials and launches: Manage product trials from factory scale‑up through to launch, ensuring products meet quality, cost and operational requirements.
- Coordinate process handovers: Work closely with NPD, Production and Technical teams to ensure products are successfully transferred into manufacturing.
- Complete process audits and product assessments: Monitor product quality and manufacturing performance, identifying opportunities for improvement and ensuring standards are maintained.
- Investigate raw material and process issues: Support problem‑solving activities across ingredients, processes and production performance to help maintain product consistency.
- Work with suppliers and customers: Visit suppliers and retail stores to review products, assess performance and support ongoing product development activities.
- Lead trials within production environments: Take ownership of factory trials, coordinating activities on the production line and ensuring all stakeholders are aligned throughout the process.
- Food Science or related degree preferred: Ideally educated within Food Science, Food Technology or a similar discipline, providing a strong technical foundation.
- Previous process experience within food manufacturing: Ideally 1–2 years’ experience within a Process Technologist role, although candidates with relevant process exposure will also be considered.
- Confident working within production environments: Able to communicate effectively with production teams and take ownership during factory trials and product launches.
- Strong organisational and problem‑solving skills: Comfortable managing multiple projects and product launches within a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
- Full UK driving licence required: The role involves supplier visits and store visits as part of ongoing product development and process activities.
