We are seeking a skilled, empathetic, and detail-oriented Phlebotomist to join our healthcare team. Responsibilities:

  • Perform venipunctures, skin punctures, and other blood-drawing duties using proper techniques to ensure patient safety and comfort.
  • Collect, label, and process blood and additional specimen samples required for diagnostics, aligning with established protocols and quality standards.
  • Ensure proper patient identification and verification throughout the process to maintain accuracy and avoid errors.
  • Establish a rapport with individuals from diverse backgrounds to create a welcoming and reassuring environment.
  • Properly document all procedures and log specimens into the applicable electronic systems for accurate patient records.
  • Maintain and stock phlebotomy equipment, ensuring cleanliness and operational readiness at all times.
  • Comply with all health, safety, and infection control guidelines to uphold a sterile and safe environment.
  • Communicate effectively with medical professionals, including nurses, laboratory technicians, and doctors, to ensure timely and accurate test results.
  • Provide support with training or mentoring new team members or interns as assigned.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Completion of an accredited phlebotomy certification program.
  • Strong understanding of infection control, HIPAA, and standard laboratory safety protocols.
  • Demonstrated technical skills in venipuncture, capillary puncture, and specimen handling.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and active listening skills.
  • A commitment to promoting an inclusive and positive experience for patients and colleagues.

Preferred:

  • Previous phlebotomy experience (1–2 years preferred).
  • Bilingual multilingual capabilities are a plus.
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems and related software.
  • CPR or First Aid certification.

  • Review patient documentation, ensure accuracy in the prescription of tests, and explain procedures to patients.

  • Monitor inventory and restock phlebotomy equipment to prevent shortages.
  • Adhere to workplace diversity and inclusion practices while treating patients with utmost respect.
  • Report any issues or concerns related to the phlebotomy process to the supervisor promptly.
