The Opportunity

You will join an established construction practice that is continuing to grow, with an existing client base and a clear strategy for further expansion in Leeds. This role suits a Legal Director or Partner who enjoys leading complex construction matters, building client relationships, and developing a team.

About the Role

  • Lead and advise on a broad range of construction matters, including non-contentious projects work and/or contentious construction disputes (depending on your background)
  • Draft, negotiate and advise on key construction documentation (e.g., JCT/NEC forms, consultant appointments, collateral warranties)
  • Advise on risk allocation, procurement routes, and contract strategy for a range of clients
  • Manage and grow key client relationships and contribute to the strategic development of the Leeds construction offering
  • Work closely with colleagues across real estate, planning, corporate, finance and disputes on complex projects
  • Supervise, mentor and develop junior lawyers as the team grows
  • Contribute to business development, profile-raising and thought leadership

What We’re Looking For

Essential

  • Qualified Solicitor in England and Wales
  • Senior-level construction experience with strong technical capability
  • Proven ability to manage matters independently and lead client relationships
  • Candidates must have an established following
  • Strong commercial judgement and pragmatic approach to problem-solving
  • Collaborative working style and commitment to developing others

Desirable

  • Experience acting for developers, contractors, consultants, funders or public sector bodies
  • Experience across both projects and disputes (helpful but not essential)
  • Track record of mentoring and team leadership at senior level
