Overview

We are seeking an experienced Managing Surveyor & Technical Operations Manager to join a well-established and growing fenestration business specialising in windows, doors, conservatories and associated home improvement products. This is a unique hybrid role combining technical surveying, operational management and installation support. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring projects are accurately surveyed, technically prepared and delivered efficiently from order through to installation completion. Acting as the link between Sales, Surveying, Procurement, Installation and Aftersales teams, you will help drive quality, accountability and operational efficiency across the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Surveying & Technical Management
    • Conduct and oversee technical surveys on domestic and commercial projects.
    • Review and audit survey accuracy and quality.
    • Verify specifications, measurements and installation requirements.
    • Identify and resolve technical risks prior to installation.
    • Ensure survey information is complete, accurate and installation-ready.
    • Support the ongoing development of surveying standards and best practices.
  • Installation Readiness & Operational Support
    • Ensure projects are fully prepared before installation commences.
    • Review access requirements and installation methodologies.
    • Support installation planning and resource coordination.
    • Identify and resolve potential project issues before they impact delivery.
    • Improve communication and coordination between departments.
  • Technical Leadership
    • Provide technical guidance and support to surveyors, installers and office teams.
    • Assist with installer training and development.
    • Resolve technical queries and on-site challenges.
    • Support quality control initiatives and reduce remedial works.
  • Continuous Improvement
    • Help develop and improve operational systems and workflows.
    • Support KPI reporting and performance monitoring.
    • Drive improvements in communication, efficiency and project delivery.
    • Assist with the implementation and ongoing development of operational software systems.

Skills & Experience

  • Essential
    • Strong background within the fenestration industry.
    • Experience surveying windows, doors and conservatories.
    • Excellent understanding of installation methods and best practices.
    • Experience supporting installation teams and project delivery.
    • Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications; strong organisational, communication and problem-solving skills.
    • Full UK Driving Licence.
  • Desirable
    • Previous experience as an Installation Manager, Technical Manager or Project Manager.
    • Commercial glazing or architectural aluminium experience.
    • Quality management and process improvement experience.
