About the Role
We’re looking for a Senior Radar Analyst to join an advanced R&D team working at the forefront of radar technology. This is a hands‑on, technically challenging role where you’ll contribute to the analysis, design, and development of both existing and next‑generation radar systems. You’ll be involved across the full development lifecycle, from modelling and concept design through to testing and performance evaluation.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Analyse radar systems and related technologies to evaluate performance and capability
- Develop detailed mathematical models using MATLAB, Simulink, and Mathcad
- Contribute to the design of new radar system concepts
- Provide technical input to hardware and software development teams
- Support system validation, testing, and integration activities
- Produce clear technical specifications and documentation
- Carry out in‑depth performance analysis using simulation and trial data
- Design and implement digital signal processing (DSP) algorithms
- Work closely with suppliers to ensure sub‑system performance targets are met
- Take ownership of key technical areas within new radar development projects
- Present technical findings to internal teams and external stakeholders
- Support wider R&D activities as needed
- Travel within the UK and internationally when required
What We’re Looking For
- Degree (BSc/MSc) in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or a related field
- Strong experience with MATLAB and DSP techniques
- Background in radar systems or similar fields (e.g. sonar, comms, image processing)
- Proven ability to deliver technical work to deadlines and budgets
- Strong analytical mindset and problem‑solving skills
- Proactive, self‑motivated, and comfortable working in a team environment
- Clear communication skills, both written and verbal
Nice to Have Experience with:
- Pulse compression, Doppler processing, CFAR, and detection techniques
- Radar data/image processing, tracking, and plot extraction
- Phased array radar systems
- Knowledge of embedded systems, Linux, or FPGA development
- Understanding of RF, antenna, or radar electronics
- Exposure to systems engineering or project‑based R&D environments
- Experience with lab‑based testing and debugging
- Familiarity with tools like Git or JIRA
- Programming in Python, C, or C++
