This BIM/CAD Technician role is central to delivering high-quality technical documentation for integrated smart building projects. You will create detailed 2D and 3D models for security systems, structured cabling and audio-visual installations, ensuring coordination across all building systems. Your work directly supports project delivery, bid development and client satisfaction, contributing to the consultancy's reputation for technical excellence and innovation within the built environment.
Responsibilities
- Create detailed 2D and 3D drawings and models using AutoCAD and Revit for security, structured cabling and AV systems
- Perform clash detection and coordinate multiple building systems to resolve conflicts early
- Generate COBie outputs and technical documentation to support project handover and compliance
- Conduct Wi-Fi network surveys and design heatmaps using Ekahau software
- Optimise CCTV field of view layouts to meet security requirements and building specifications
- Maintain and update CAD drawings throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring accuracy and compliance
- Support project management and bid teams with technical drawings and detailed documentation
- Manage project files and ensure all documentation meets building codes and industry standards
Requirements
Essential:
- Minimum five GCSEs at grades 4-9 (A*-C) including Maths, English and Technical Drawing
- Autodesk AutoCAD Certification
- Autodesk Revit Certification
- At least 3 years' hands-on experience with AutoCAD (2D and 3D drawing and modelling)
- At least 1 year's experience with Revit (3D modelling)
- Knowledge of IT cabling infrastructure, security systems and audio-visual technology
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work to tight project deadlines
Desirable:
- Certificate in Wi-Fi Survey Design (such as Ekahau certification)
- Full clean driving licence
