The Role
We are seeking an experienced Field Service Engineer to join a growing engineering business based in Leicester.
This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who enjoys working independently, solving technical problems, and providing exceptional customer service.
The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, servicing, maintaining, and repairing a range of industrial equipment at customer sites across the UK, Europe, and worldwide.
International travel, including occasional overnight stays and extended trips abroad, will form a key part of this role.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive breakdown repairs on customer equipment.
- Install, commission, and test new machinery at customer sites.
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults, identifying and implementing effective solutions.
- Complete service reports and maintain accurate documentation following each customer visit.
- Provide technical support and training to customers where required.
- Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with health and safety regulations.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, delivering excellent service at all times.
- Liaise with the service department regarding parts requirements, scheduling, and technical issues.
- Travel extensively to customer sites across the UK, Europe, and worldwide, including occasional overnight stays and international assignments.
Requirements
- Previous experience as a Field Service Engineer, Service Engineer, Maintenance Engineer, or similar.
- Strong mechanical engineering knowledge with electrical fault-finding experience.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and electrical schematics.
- Experience working on industrial machinery, manufacturing equipment, automation, conveyors, packaging machinery, CNC machinery, or similar equipment is desirable.
- Excellent fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication skills and a customer-focused approach.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Ability and willingness to travel extensively across the UK, Europe, and worldwide, including overnight stays and international assignments.
- Valid passport and ability to travel internationally.
Desirable Skills
- Electrical qualifications (18th Edition, NVQ, HNC/HND, City & Guilds, or equivalent).
- PLC fault-finding experience.
- Experience with pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
- Experience commissioning new equipment.
