Managing Associate / Associate – Planning & Infrastructure Consenting Team, Leeds

Key Responsibilities

  • Advising on Development Consent Orders in energy, transport and water sectors.
  • Advising on Transport and Works Act Orders for rail and light rail projects.
  • Supporting public inquiries, examinations and secondary legislation drafting.
  • Providing strategic advice on consents, optioneering routes and land assembly strategies.
  • Managing client relationships, stakeholder engagement and high-value consenting mandates.

Essential Requirements

  • Qualified Solicitor in England & Wales.
  • At least 3 years PQE with infrastructure consenting experience.
  • Strong technical knowledge of planning law, experience with DCOs, transport orders, harbour orders.
  • Experience drafting secondary legislation, supporting public inquiries, optioneering.
  • Commercially focused, excellent drafting, stakeholder management, efficient diary.

Highly Desirable

  • Experience with hybrid Bills and energy transmission projects.
  • Experience with ports, airports, light/heavy rail.
  • Large international law firm environment, high-value complex projects.
