We are recruiting on behalf of a leading independent healthcare provider for a Lead Addictions Therapist to join a specialist mental health service in North London. The service provides treatment for a range of mental health conditions, including addiction, depression, anxiety, stress and OCD. The setting is a well‑established inpatient and day care service with a strong reputation for delivering high‑quality, evidence‑based psychological care.
As Lead Addictions Therapist, you will play a key role in the delivery and coordination of therapeutic interventions within a multidisciplinary team. You will support the assessment, treatment planning and ongoing recovery of individuals accessing addiction services, working within a structured therapeutic model. You will also provide leadership within the therapy team, contributing to service development, clinical governance and high‑quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver evidence‑based individual and group therapy in line with structured addiction treatment models.
- Conduct clinical assessments and contribute to formulation and treatment planning.
- Provide ongoing therapeutic support for clients within day care and step‑down programmes.
- Facilitate group therapy sessions and manage group dynamics effectively.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated care and effective aftercare planning.
- Participate in clinical reviews, handovers and MDT meetings.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation, including risk assessments and progress notes.
- Identify, manage and escalate clinical and safeguarding risks appropriately.
- Work closely with senior therapy and service management teams to support service excellence.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- A recognised professional qualification in psychotherapy, counselling or a related therapy discipline.
- Professional registration with a recognised body (e.g. HCPC, BACP, BABCP, UKCP or equivalent).
- A degree in counselling, psychotherapy or a related field.
- At least 2 years’ experience working within addiction treatment or recovery‑focused services.
- Experience delivering both individual and group therapy interventions.
- Strong skills in clinical assessment, formulation and risk management.
- Knowledge of trauma‑informed approaches and co‑occurring mental health conditions.
- A compassionate, resilient and collaborative approach to care.
