Following a period of exciting growth and product diversification, they are seeking a Junior Design Engineer to support the development of innovative new products from concept through to production.

Role Overview

This is a fantastic opportunity for a creative and technically minded engineer with a passion for product design. The successful candidate will assist in developing products from initial sketches through to production-ready components, ensuring every detail meets the brand’s high-quality standards. Working as part of a close-knit design team, you’ll contribute to product concepts, prototype development, testing, and design refinement. You’ll also play a key role in improving existing products through engineering insight and hands-on testing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Existing Products – Drawings
    • Maintain and update control drawings as required.
    • Produce fully dimensioned component drawings.
    • Document product changes and maintain accurate records.
  • Existing Products – Continuous Improvement
    • Identify areas for improvement through QC data review.
    • Investigate faults and collaborate with other departments to develop solutions.
    • Create and present engineering drawings and improvement concepts.
  • Products in Development
    • Review development issues and support testing processes.
    • Check off-tool samples against 3D data and modify designs where needed.
    • Liaise with suppliers’ engineers under guidance from the Project Manager.
    • Conduct benchmark and life testing, analysing results and implementing improvements.
  • New Products
    • Collaborate with the Project Manager to understand design briefs.
    • Produce design sketches, CAD drawings, and 3D renderings for discussion.
    • Liaise with model makers and engineers to develop prototypes.
    • Identify and resolve design flaws before tooling and production release.
    • Create and execute benchmark and life tests to ensure performance and reliability.
  • Other Duties
    • Research materials, components, and new manufacturing technologies.
    • Review and support tool handling procedures and documentation.

Skills & Experience Required

  • Experience using CAD software such as Pro-E / Creo / SolidWorks / SolidEdge / NX.
  • Strong sketching and 3D rendering ability.
  • Proficiency with Adobe Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).
  • Hands-on model making and prototyping skills.
  • Understanding of material properties and manufacturing processes.
  • Mechanical or Electrical Engineering background preferred.
  • Excellent attention to detail and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organisational and time management abilities, capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously.
