Our client, a distinguished Oxford college, is looking for a capable and motivated Junior Sous Chef to support the leadership of their busy, fresh-food kitchen. With structured services and a strong focus on quality, this is an excellent opportunity for a senior chef seeking progression within a stable and professional environment.
You’ll be wondering what’s in it for you as a Junior Sous Chef:
- Up to £39,000 per annum
- 40-hour contract with a structured rota
- Every Sunday and roughly every other Saturday off
- Overtime for the first 6 hours and x2 thereafter
- 30 days holiday plus Christmas off
- Free gym membership, dental plan and on-site parking
Responsibilities as a Junior Sous Chef:
- Supporting the Head Chef in leading daily kitchen operations
- Overseeing service for approximately 150 lunch covers and 90 dinner covers
- Supervising and mentoring junior chefs
- Ensuring consistency, quality and strong food safety standards
- Assisting with ordering, stock control and kitchen organisation
You’ll be a great fit if you:

- Are confident managing sections and stepping into leadership when required

- Lead calmly and professionally under pressure

Shifts run 7.00–14.30 and 11.00–21.00, with Sundays off and approximately every other Saturday off, providing a healthy work-life balance.
