Our client is a well-regarded, exclusively family law firm with offices in Croydon and South West London. They act for clients across London, the South East, and nationally – handling everything from straightforward divorce proceedings to high-net-worth financial remedy cases and complex international matters.
Overview
This is a genuine opportunity to join a close-knit, experienced team where you will be exposed to a broad and interesting caseload from day one. The firm operates with a client‑first, compassionate ethos and has a strong reputation built over decades in this specialist area.
What You Will Be Doing
- Manage your own caseload of privately funded family law matters with appropriate supervision and support.
- Work across a breadth of areas: Divorce and separation, financial remedy, children matters, pre‑ and post‑nuptial agreements, domestic abuse orders, international and cross‑border matters, cohabitee and property disputes.
- Attend court hearings, conduct client meetings, manage correspondence, and work closely with a senior solicitor who will provide structured supervision and mentoring.
What We Are Looking For
Essential:
- Qualified Solicitor (England and Wales) – NQ to 3 years PQE welcome.
- Demonstrable family law experience – via a qualifying seat or post‑qualification practice; prior experience in a family law department is essential.
- Solid working knowledge of financial remedy proceedings, children law, and divorce procedure.
- Strong drafting skills – able to produce clear, accurate correspondence, court documents, and agreements.
- Ability to manage your own files with supervision – organised, proactive, and client‑focused.
- Excellent communication skills – written and verbal; able to advise clients with sensitivity and clarity.
- Right to work in the United Kingdom without restriction.
Desirable (not essential):
- Resolution membership or working towards it.
- Experience of court advocacy at FDR, First Hearing, or other family court hearings.
- Exposure to high‑net‑worth or complex financial remedy cases.
- Interest in mediation or collaborative law as part of longer‑term development.
What Is On Offer
- Salary: £38,000 – £50,000 per annum, dependent on experience and PQE level.
- Hybrid working – primarily office‑based with arrangement for remote days where workload allows.
- 25 days' annual leave plus bank holidays.

- Structured mentoring – direct access to a senior solicitor with an exceptional depth of family law experience spanning high‑value and complex cases.
- Broad, interesting caseload – exposure to the full spectrum of family law from your first day, not a narrow or admin‑heavy role.
- Supportive, collegiate culture – a small, specialist team where your contribution is visible and valued.
- Pension contribution in line with statutory requirements.
- Professional development – support for CPD, Resolution membership, and relevant training.
Working Arrangements
The role is based at the firm's Croydon office. Croydon is well‑connected by train and tram, including links to Central London, East Croydon mainline station, and Tramlink services across South London. Parking is available locally.
