The Role:

Following continued organic growth, our client is seeking a talented Accounts & Audit Manager to join their Bury office. You will manage a varied portfolio, with approximately 75% audit and 25% accounts and advisory work, while acting as a trusted adviser to clients and a leader within the team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Client Portfolio & Advisory
    • Manage a portfolio of corporate and owner-managed businesses
    • Build strong, long-term client relationships and act as a trusted adviser
    • Deliver a joined-up service across audit, accounts and advisory
  • Audit & Technical Oversight
    • Oversee and review statutory audits from planning to completion
    • Review financial statements under FRS 102 and FRS 102-1A
    • Ensure full compliance with UK auditing standards (ISA UK)
    • Provide technical guidance and support on complex accounting matters
  • Team Leadership & Development
    • Lead, mentor and develop audit and accounts teams
    • Conduct file reviews and support technical development of staff
    • Identify and deliver internal training where required
  • Commercial & Operational Management
    • Manage engagement budgets, billing and recovery
    • Ensure work is delivered on time and within budget
    • Contribute to department efficiency and strategic improvements

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • ACA or ACCA qualified with 3–6+ years’ PQE in UK accountancy practice
  • Proven experience managing an audit or mixed client portfolio
  • Strong knowledge of UK GAAP (FRS 102) and auditing standards (ISA UK)
  • Demonstrable experience reviewing statutory accounts and audit files
  • Strong leadership skills with experience managing and developing teams
  • Commercial awareness including budgeting, billing and client profitability
  • Excellent communication, organisational and problem-solving skills
  • A proactive, ambitious and career-driven mindset
