We are recruiting on behalf of a specialist independent school for an experienced Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join a well-established multidisciplinary team. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a specialist educational setting supporting children and young people with a range of additional needs, including autism, learning disabilities, physical disabilities and complex medical needs. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering high-quality occupational therapy interventions while contributing to the ongoing development of the therapy service.

The Role

As a Band 6 Occupational Therapist, you will work closely with education, pastoral and SEND teams to provide assessment, intervention and support that enables pupils to access learning and achieve their individual goals. You will also have opportunities to contribute to service development, deliver staff training and collaborate with senior therapy colleagues to enhance therapeutic practice across the school.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess pupils' functional, sensory and motor needs.
  • Develop and implement individualised occupational therapy programmes.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff, families and external professionals.
  • Support pupils to improve independence, participation and access to education.
  • Deliver training and practical advice to school staff to promote effective therapeutic strategies.
  • Contribute to Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) assessments, reviews and target setting.
  • Maintain accurate clinical records and reports in accordance with HCPC standards.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary meetings and contribute to the ongoing development of the therapy provision.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A recognised qualification in Occupational Therapy.
  • HCPC registration.
  • Experience working with children or young people with additional needs, including autism, learning disabilities and/or physical disabilities.
  • Strong assessment, clinical reasoning and report‑writing skills.
  • Experience working within a multidisciplinary environment.
  • A proactive, collaborative approach and a passion for improving outcomes for children and young people.
