Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out routine servicing, inspections and maintenance on HGVs and trailers
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic and electrical faults
  • Complete MOT preparations, safety inspections and defect rectification
  • Ensure all work meets DVSA standards and compliance requirements
  • Maintain accurate job cards, service records and workshop documentation
  • Support breakdowns and urgent repairs to keep vehicles on the road
  • Work closely with drivers and the transport team to minimise downtime
  • Keep the workshop clean, safe and efficient

What we’re looking for

  • Proven experience as an HGV Fitter / HGV Technician (or similar)
  • Strong knowledge of brakes, air systems, electrics and hydraulics
  • Confident fault-finding and problem-solving skills
  • Good IT skills (job cards / workshop systems)
  • Great attention to detail and a safety-first mindset
  • Strong communication skills for teamwork and liaising with drivers/management
  • Relevant qualifications (NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds) preferred
