Based in the Berkhamsted area, you’ll join an established Private Client function with a strong local reputation and a steady flow of quality instructions.

The Role: Private Client

You’ll manage a varied caseload and provide clear, pragmatic advice to clients across the full Private Client lifecycle. Typical work includes:

  • Wills (including more complex instructions as you develop)
  • Probate and estate administration
  • LPAs (property & financial affairs / health & welfare)
  • Trusts and basic trust administration
  • Inheritance Tax planning and succession advice (depending on experience)

What you’ll be doing day-to-day:

  • Running files from instruction to completion with appropriate supervision
  • Drafting documents and advising clients with empathy and clarity
  • Building strong relationships that generate repeat work and referrals
  • Supporting team collaboration and contributing to a positive, professional culture
  • Developing your capability towards Senior Associate level (where applicable)

Requirements (Please read carefully)

Our client is ideally looking for:

  • Qualified Solicitor in England & Wales
  • 6–7 years’ PQE in Private Client within a UK legal practice

They will also consider:

  • 3–4 years’ PQE where you have strong pre-qualification Private Client experience (e.g., a Private Client training seat/paralegal background) and can demonstrate solid technical grounding.

You’ll ideally have experience in:

  • Wills, probate and estate administration
  • LPAs
  • Client‑facing advisory work with strong attention to detail

Desirable (not essential):

  • Exposure to trusts and IHT planning
  • STEP qualification (or interest in working towards it)

Salary & Benefits

Salary: £50,000–£70,000+ depending on experience and fit (benchmarking for 3–7 PQE Private Client roles in the regional market)
