We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join an established engineering company in Bedfordshire. This role is ideal for someone with solid industry experience who is confident working on mechanical design projects from concept through to manufacture.

Responsibilities:

  • Produce detailed 3D models and 2D drawings using SolidWorks.
  • Develop mechanical components, assemblies and complete systems for manufacture.
  • Carry out design calculations, tolerance analysis and material selection.
  • Work closely with production engineering and project teams to ensure design feasibility.
  • Support product improvements, prototyping and testing activities.
  • Manage design documentation and maintain revision control.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and innovation within the design process.

Requirements:

  • 3-5 years industry experience in mechanical design.
  • Strong proficiency in SolidWorks (essential).
  • Good understanding of engineering principles, manufacturing processes and design for manufacture (DFM).
  • Excellent problem-solving ability and strong attention to detail.
  • Confident communicator with the ability to work within a team and independently.
  • Relevant qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
