About the Role
A well-established food manufacturing business is seeking a detail-oriented Interim QA/QC Technician to join its Quality and Technical team. This is an excellent opportunity for a food industry professional who is passionate about food safety, quality assurance, compliance, and continuous improvement. Working closely with the Technical and NPD functions, you will play a key role in ensuring products are manufactured to the highest food safety and quality standards while supporting audits, compliance activities, and quality systems across the site.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with food safety standards, quality systems, and internal procedures.
- Maintain and oversee technical and production documentation, ensuring records are accurately completed, signed off, and securely filed.
- Monitor food safety controls throughout production, ensuring adherence to HACCP, GMP, hygiene, and quality requirements.
- Carry out CCP verification activities, including metal detector, sieve, and compliance checks.
- Conduct internal audits and inspections, identify non-conformances, and support corrective and preventative actions.
- Coordinate equipment calibration, maintenance documentation, and routine cleaning schedules.
- Manage product and environmental sampling programmes, including arranging external laboratory testing.
- Deliver food safety, GMP, hygiene, allergen, and SOP training, including inductions and refresher sessions.
- Support customer, third-party, and regulatory audits, ensuring documentation and traceability records are audit ready.
- Perform routine GMP, hygiene, technical, and foreign body audits across the site.
- Monitor product changeovers, allergen controls, cleaning verification, and labelling compliance.
- Conduct product quality assessments, including sensory, physical, and chemical testing.
- Ensure maintenance sign-off procedures are completed before equipment is released back into production.
- Promote PPE compliance, hygiene standards, and a strong food safety culture throughout the business.
- Review supplier documentation, Certificates of Analysis (CoAs), specifications, and audit reports to ensure ingredient compliance.
- Provide support to NPD activities and assist with wider technical team responsibilities when required.
About You
We are looking for candidates who have:
- Previous experience within a QA, QC, Technical, or Food Safety role in food manufacturing.
- Good understanding of HACCP, GMP, food hygiene, and quality management systems.
- Experience conducting audits, inspections, and compliance checks.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent record-keeping skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- Good communication skills with the confidence to train and support colleagues.
- Experience supporting customer, third-party, or regulatory audits would be advantageous.
- Knowledge of allergen management, traceability, and food safety legislation is desirable.
