Role overview and purpose:
Lead the design, deployment, and maintenance of infrastructure systems that ensure day-to-day operational stability, security, and performance. As a senior technical resource, the Infrastructure Technician provides hands-on expertise, supports incident resolution, and ensures systems are scalable, compliant, and aligned with service delivery goals.
Main duties:
- Design, deploy, and maintain on-premises and cloud-based infrastructure (e.g., Azure)
- Lead incident response and root cause analysis for infrastructure-related issues
- Manage network architecture, firewalls, VPNs, and endpoint security solutions
- Oversee patching, backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity protocols
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support digital transformation and system upgrades
- Maintain documentation for infrastructure assets, configurations, and change control
- Ensure compliance with ISO27001 and other relevant standards
- Mentor junior technicians and contribute to professional development initiatives
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Proven experience in infrastructure support or systems administration (5+ years)
- Strong knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, and PowerShell
- Experience with virtualisation platforms (e.g., Hyper-V)
- Familiarity with cloud services (Azure), including identity and access management
- Understanding of networking protocols, routing, switching, and DNS/DHCP
- Exposure to monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds) and SIEM platforms
- Excellent troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills
Qualifications:
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals
- CompTIA Network+ / Security+
- ITIL Foundation / Practitioner
