We are currently recruiting for a Quality Engineering Assistant to support a busy Quality Engineering function within a precision manufacturing environment. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong quality, engineering, or manufacturing background to develop their career within a highly regulated and standards-driven industry. You will work closely with an experienced Quality Engineer, supporting quality systems, audit activities, compliance requirements, and continuous improvement initiatives across production and customer‑facing processes.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support the maintenance and development of the Quality Management System (QMS)
- Assist with internal and external audits (ISO 9001 / AS9100 / automotive standards)
- Maintain accurate quality records, documentation, and compliance data
- Support investigation of non-conformances and assist with root cause analysis
- Contribute to corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)
- Assist with customer quality queries and preparation of reports
- Support supplier quality communication where required
- Help monitor product quality throughout production processes
- Assist in quality performance reporting and KPI tracking
- Support adherence to health & safety requirements (IOSH-aligned standards)
- Use IT systems to manage documentation and quality data
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Essential
- HNC / HND / Degree (or equivalent) in Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, or related discipline
- Understanding of ISO 9001, AS9100, or automotive quality standards
- Strong communication and customer‑facing skills
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office (especially Excel)
- Strong attention to detail and analytical thinking
- IOSH Health & Safety certificate (or willingness to work towards)
- Ability to work independently and within a team
Desirable
- Experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment
- Exposure to internal auditing or quality systems
- Knowledge of root cause analysis tools (e.g. 5 Whys, Fishbone)
- Experience using ERP or quality management systems
